US UNDER UMBRELLA

Inspired by the soul of “wagasa” (Japanese traditional umbrella), the variety of motif pattern represents the diversity of Malaysian and Japanese culture. The different thickness of line and size of circle indicate the variety of ethnics in Malaysia. Although there is quite a huge distinction among our languages, traditions and religions, it doesn't refrain us from being united. As in the end, our culture will be intersecting each other just like how each line meets at the center point. The evolution of colour in each circle is an indicator of amalgamation through mixed marriage which are often found in Malaysia, leading towards a new and unique culture. That’s the speciality of Malaysia!

In terms of Japanese traditions, the “wagasa” was used as a shield from evil spirit. Therefore, it refers to the unity of different races in Malaysia living together under an umbrella to fight against the negative elements. The background is made up of light wood strip because timber is more prone to Japan’s frequent earthquake for building structure. This implicates the stability of community structure despite the huge cultural differentiation. The colour tone results in a visual harmony, providing a sense of harmony relationship between Malaysian and Japanese!
